Frustrated to no end, Papa finally gives the little chicken the chance to tell a tale. All Papa Rooster wants to do is get through a bedtime story without any interruption from the Little Red Chicken.
Because she always wants to help though, she cannot get through a story without interrupting and trying to save the characters from whatever trouble they are about to get into.

In fact, I personally didn't feel that Chicken even had a problem with interrupting - /5(). The father’s amused exasperation [in Interrupting Chicken and the Elephant of Surprise], the child’s delight, the wordplay and the exuberant artwork all combine to make this picture book at once a celebration of love and language and an entertainment that will stand up to many, many bedtime readings.
