The Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) is an international scientific and medical organization dedicated to advancing nuclear medicine and molecular imaging, vital elements of precision medicine that allow diagnosis and treatment to be tailored to individual patients in order to achieve the best possible outcomes. State of the art and future perspectives in PET Imaging) Osama Mawlawi, PhD: Lu Radiopharmaceuticals for selected treatment options: Stephan Maus, PhD: State of the art PSMA Therapy in Prostate Cancer: Samer Ezziddin, MD: Prayer & Coffee Break: Moderators: Dr. Mohammed Al-Harbi & Dr. Yassar Assiri:

The term molecular imaging can be broadly defined as the in vivo characterization and measurement of biologic processes at the cellular and molecular level. In contradistinction to “classical” diagnostic imaging, it sets forth to probe the molecular abnormalities that are the basis of disease rather than to image the end effects of these. This work is focused on preclinical micro-CT imaging, reviewing relevant principles, technologies, and applications. Commonly, micro-CT provides high-resolution anatomic information, either on its own or in conjunction with lower-resolution functional imaging modalities such as positron emission tomography (PET) and single-photon emission.

Molecular imaging is primarily about the chemistry of novel biological probes, yet the vast majority of practitioners are not chemists or biochemists. This is the first book, written from a chemists point of view, to address the nature of the chemical interaction between probe and environment to help elucidate biochemical detail instead of bulk anatomy. Melanoma represents the most aggressive form of skin cancer, and its incidence continues to rise worldwide. 18 F–FDG PET imaging has transformed diagnostic nuclear medicine and has become an essential component in the management of melanoma, but still has its drawbacks.

With the rapid growth in the field of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging, a variety of promising probes that enable early diagnosis and detection of melanoma Cited by: 6. The availability of micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) imaging has increased over the last decade and has shown its utility in many preclinical applications.

The micro-CT instruments have evolved from custom-made to commercially available scanners designed for either ex vivo or in vivo imaging. We present fundamental principles, relevant technologies, and established applications before introducing new developments associated with spectral and phase contrast by: Covering state-of-the art modalities, it discusses the evaluation of a wide range of diseases that have a metabolic component, including cancer, inflammatory conditions, diabetes, neurodegeneration, and cardiovascular disorders.

Imaging provides a quantitative perspective to the assessment of metabolic function and complements genetic analysis of disorders related to disrupted metabolism. This book presents advanced molecular imaging techniques used to assess metabolic function.

Covering state-of-the art modalities, it discusses the evaluation of a wide range of diseases that have a metabolic component, including cancer, inflammatory conditions, diabetes, neurodegeneration, and cardiovascular disorders.

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the leading cause of cancer mortality worldwide and its prognosis remains poor.

Molecular imaging with 18F-FDG PET/CT can metabolically characterize the nature of lesions as benign or malignant, allowing a better staging at the diagnosis of this kind of patient.

This advantage can also be applied in the re-staging due to the suspicion of recurrent by: 6. Molecular imaging perspectives Article Literature Review (PDF Available) in Journal of The Royal Society Interface 2(3) July with Reads How we measure 'reads'.
